| 878 | 2001-11-02 22:24:00 | A shell account is a user account on a unix or unix like system. For irc they can be used to change your identification information by acting as a proxy. So when you do a whois on irc and you get something like: (MyUserName) on I.am.not@home.com you know they are using a shell account to change their isp information. This is normally done using an open source program called 'BNC'. This type of program is knowen as a bouncer. See www.eggdrop.org for more info. |
