| 983 | 1998-12-15 21:59:00 | Recently my clock has not been keeping time whilst the computer is turned off. In fact the time does progress sometimes but is still behind when the computer is turned on. I have read through the users manual but cannot find any reference to this problem. I have emailed a computer retailer who feels that I need a new masterboard. If you could be of any help, I would appreciate your assistance. I have enclosed the most recent correspondence with my retailer: Q. I noticed that when starting the computer this morning at 7.30am that the time shown is not the time that I turned it off, rather it is 05.50 am Tuesday morning - so the clock has progressed from yesterday whilst being turned off. I don't know if that has any significance, either it works or it doesn't surely? thanks Vincent A. Basically yes, the clock should work full stop. If it doesn't, and the fault is not with the CMOS losing settings altogether then the mainboard would need replacement. Even something as trivial as a clock would require entire replacement since the components are surface mounted Regards,Daniel Quay Computers Service Dept. |
