| 1032 | 1999-01-01 12:36:00 | I have an HP Pavilion 6318 that was recently infected with the CIH Virus. To overcome this problem, I have reformatted the C drive, and using the latest F-Prot download from the net, the virus is no longer being detected on the computer. However, I am now experiencing problems running the ?System Maintenance? functions on the computer. Although the computer completes the first task, that is, deleting unnecessary files, when it moves on to checking the C Drive for errors, the bar showing its progress, simply restarts itself. The task is not completed. When I try to use the ?Disk Defragmenter?, this task will not start, and the progress alternates between 0-1% If you click on the ?Show Details? button, the screen is white, and no progress is shown as being made. Although I am aware that the defragmentation of the C Drive, can take a long time, It is obvious that both these tasks simply aren?t functioning properly. Also I am noticing that a lot of ?Fatal Exception? errors are occurring more, where the computer asks you to ?press any key to continue? or ?CTRL+ALT+DEL? to restart the computer. I am wondering if these problems have something to do with the ?CIH Virus? and obviously, it would be good if anyone has any suggestions to overcoming these problems?? |
