997 1998-12-26 07:38:00 Hi

My Father-in-law bought a second hand computer 12 months ago and I want to adjust the bios settings, but the previous owner has set a password and we cannot contact them. Is there any way to easly reset the bios?

998 2007-04-21 06:17:00 Change the jumpers on your Mobo, it should clear all passwords on your computer. If there is a bios password you shouldn't be able to boot into windows, eg use the computer. Mike.H (145)

1000 2007-04-21 06:44:00 Ah, I think the guy would have sorted it out by now.

Or chucked it in the bin after 8 and 1/2 years.

incorrect.........with a bios password........if it's a POWERON password you cant get to windows unless you know the password......not sure now-a-days but older compaqs had this function
