I have owned a Pentium 75 for nearly a year now and have turned it into nearly a new computer. Last month I finally upgraded the Motherboard and installed an AMD-K6 300 CPU. The problem is that for some reason now there just aren't enough IRQs. I have a graphics card, sound card, modem, network card, scanner, CD-ROM, and a few other devices using my 15 IRQs. My system could handle these devices before upgrade but always crashed and now I have a problem with IRQs conflicting. It seems to be OK when the network card is completely removed from my system but once it is put back the IRQ seems to change numbers and I find a where I want to put a device there is already a device there called 'IRQ holder for PCI steering.' The Network card is PCI and the other PCI slot has my graphics card. The other problem is that the scanner will no longer work, which uses a SCSI card. Its says that it can't find some free port for it, not only on my computer but on my dads 486. |
