| 1201 | 1999-02-09 23:48:00 | I passed my 486 4/100 processor computer to my son when I purchased my new pentium. He can no longer open m/s word or excel. When he tries he gets the following message- 'cannot find excel.exe. Please start the application another way. While the application is running click on the toolbar button or choose the menu command again' When trying to open from File manager- 'File Manager cannot open or print the specified file start the application used to create this file and open or print it from there' We attempted to reload Word and Excel from the original CD rom and received setup message- 'while registering OLE servers, setup had a problem with reg.dat,shell.dll or disk space.' The computer has 214mb unused disk space. We then reloaded win 3.11 from original disks but this didn't change anything. Has anybody got any suggestions please as we have exhausted our limited knowledge? The original problem may have been caused by an electrical storm but we don't really know. |
