| 1333 | 1999-03-04 12:04:00 | Hi It appears to be time for me to reinstall Windows to freshen things up a bit. The only trouble is, my original discs have been destroyed and I need to buy a new copy. While the Win98 Upgrade version will detect the existing windows OS and install, what would happen if I needed to reformat the hard drive (say, because of corruption or virus infection)? Would I require the Full version of Win98 as no existing windows OS would be detected? I vaguely remember reading that the upgrade is essentially the same as the full version, but then, what's the point of the full version? Which should I buy? I also note that a lot of users are reverting to Win95. Are these people the minority, or should I also avoid Win98? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |
