2012-01-27 03:06:00 | When I check for updates, I am advised that "Windows update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer". Well I have restarted the computer several times, but I still cannot update windows. So... how do I switch on the windows update service ?

2012-01-27 03:18:00 | Go to run type services.msc. Then go to windows update double click it, change it to automatic / delayed start, then click on start. And hopefully it starts. It hasnt been infected with something has it?? | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2012-01-27 18:58:00 | Tried the services.msc but no change. Windows updates are set to automatic and I have done full scans with Comodo anti vius and malwarebytes. Anything else I can try ?

2012-01-27 19:21:00 | Interesting... I opened Local Services and while there a very impressive list of services, services.msc, is not one of them. Perhaps I am either doing something wrong or perhaps I have stuffed my machine up somehow!

2012-01-27 20:50:00 | Well if you typed in services.msc from run, and it ran its there somewhere. I would use something better than Comodo AV. Its not that old. And, by the looks of it, if youre using the free version, it doesnt do much. Unless you pay. Does it give you an error when you try and update? | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2012-01-27 22:30:00 | Get teamviewer, if you want. I could have a look from here. And see if I can get it going. Send me the ID and PW it gives you (in a PM) , if you install it | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |

The only message is that the update service is not running. and you may need to restart your computer. Well, of course I have restarted the computer many times, but nothing. still doesn't work. |
