2012-01-23 05:48:00 | I now want to set up a VPN to my Amahi server, but understand I need a VPN client. Does this need to be installed on all computers that will be logging in remotely only? I also will need to open a port on the router there are step by step instructions so not too worried on that but are there any catches I need to be aware of? Thanks

Does this need to be installed on all computers that will be logging in remotely only? It looks like it, from this; wiki.amahi.org What you're doing looks like a really good idea. I would probably gone down the "Amahi" path, if I'd known about it, before doing this one; http://woodel.com/ But in defense for what I did. What a learning curve! |

2012-01-23 22:57:00 | I can't remember off the top of my head and some of the Amahi sites appear to be down or extremely slow this morning | gary67 (56) | |
2012-01-23 23:30:00 | Going from memory and its been over a year I installed mine originally, when you download the express Install CD, theres a link provided in the instruction page that points you to signing up and they send you a activation key ( its free) Just tried to look to confirm, but the main site is very slow to load, and even when it does its not displaying correctly, I'd say there's some sort of problems with some sites overseas at the moment.

2012-01-24 03:10:00 | Just fired up the laptop to investigate. Done that step but when it asks for the IP is it the AMahi IP of 118.90.. or the net work IP of 198.162.1.. now to work out the port forwarding on my router for Amahi

2012-01-24 04:41:00 | Well, if you are ON your local LAN, it will be the local one. If you are "outside" it will be the public IP of your router (which you have forwarded to the server - along with the GRE protocol for PPTP) My advice would be to make it go locally first, so at least you know you have a working base when you sort out the port forwarding.
