1231204 2011-09-15 05:32:00 We are messy people, usually by necessity.
Small child who is naturally messy and currently we have boxes for miles as we are going through old stuff of ours and seeing if its still relevant to keep it or not.

So yes, the place is messy.

Now the place is still clean, just cluttered etc.

Does a landlord have the right to tell us how to live. As long as the place is clean and undamaged surely anything else is personal choice?

I am curious as we have an inspection soon and I do NOT want to mess up the system we have going with the boxes by tidying them up.

1231206 2011-09-15 05:51:00 I'm pretty sure they can't tell you how tidy to be in that respect, but if it is noticeable from the road or footpath then it could be argued that it looks bad for the neigborhood or for the property owner. jareemon (5207)
1231207 2011-09-15 05:55:00 So long as what you have is clean and not causing any damage to the property I cannot see any problem with how you choose to display your property. If the landlord was putting his property up for sale it would be reasonable for him/her to request that the place be tidy for inspection by possible purchasers in that case they would be required to give you notice beforehand.

1231208 2011-09-15 05:58:00 You're lucky. We'll be lucky if we see our landlord at all lol. For all I know she could be dead. She gets her money doesnt care about the flat or whether its messy or tidy. Even tho its crap Speedy Gonzales (78)
1231209 2011-09-15 07:01:00 One cause for concern would be if your boxes block escape routes if there was a fire or were a fire risk themselves. I would get in ahead and mention you are sorting out belongings right now so there are boxes everywhere. That way they know it is only short term. Jen (38)

1231211 2011-09-15 07:23:00 I figure if i grow my beard long enough I'll develop super human powers, But Mrs Metla hates the beard so i always end up getting rid of it.

Now, who the hell is at fault for her not being married to a man with super powers?

Damn right, And when I explain it to her she think I is crazy.
