1231108 2011-09-14 22:20:00 Most people want one to detect the bad radars. R2x1 (4628)

I can't offer any useful advice but I had to :)

I'm not sure how effective they are anyway, not all radar is on all the time and driving around relying on them to warn you may make you MORE likely to get caught speeding.

That is about as clever as telling General Motors to make all their cars go no faster than 100km per hour. :illogical

1231113 2011-09-14 23:48:00 Beltronics sti (i think thats what it's called) or the Valentine 1. Alex B (15479)

2. I have a Overspeed alarm in my car. When on the motorway I have it set at 105km/h. Helps me not exceed the speed limit. Radar not required.

3. As mentioned above, Don't speed and save yourself the money!

1231115 2011-09-15 00:25:00 Have a BEL STI XR (3 years) and a progression of other BEL's over the years

The STI along with the Valentine one and Escort are good but still only give you about 100 metres average against the low powered Mobile van camera's on "K" Band

Learnt over the years to stick close to the speed limit as they target people they think are speeding with "instant on" ,detector or no detector they will have you

Most think they drive around all the time with the Radar on ,they don't

A GPS is very good for speed camera locations if kept updated and the ability of warning you that you are speeding or entering a lower speed zone which I find invaluable for travelling in different areas

So all in all ,I find a detector of real advantage when you arrive at passing lanes, you will get a indication of a Police car patrolling up a head and think twice about passing and let the ones behind get nicked which have been a few over the years
