1231078 2011-09-14 21:52:00 I just want some of your views .

My first touchscreen phone .
Initial impressions - it's a cool trendy phone, good quality AMOLED screen but I just can't type accurately . Just had it for a while - so like typing in calendar dates which needs accuracy or words that needs to be spelt correctly .

Would it improve over time? What's your view on touchscreen?

It's a Nokia C6-01, with a 3 . 2" screen I think . Not into apps and stuff and I wanted Ovi Maps .

I see a no . of younger people with Blackberry styled phones so their might be a decent market who still likes those .

Thanks .

1231079 2011-09-14 22:06:00 I recently bought myself an HTC Trophy (Windows Phone 7, 3.8"), while it does take a bit of getting used to, I'm finding myself entering text really fast (especially with autocorrect enabled). pcuser42 (130)
1231080 2011-09-14 22:44:00 I have a galaxy S and I find typing in portrait orientation quite akward, tipping it sideways into landscape is a lot easier. The auto complete is great though, it very often chooses the right word long before I finish typing. I also can't master swype it makes more trouble than it's worth for me.

Overall I find touchscreen fine for moderate use but I don't like it for typing more than a few words, posting in the forums from it is tedious for example and ends up full of typos.
I use a pc for anything serious.

1231081 2011-09-14 22:53:00 The phone I lost was a Nokia E75. Normal key buttons and a slide out keyb. Yeah predictive typing, but I need it for numbers and unique words which won't be in the dictionary :p

A bit of a shame even Nokia have ditched full buttons and got to least a hybrid. Blackberry :D

1231082 2011-09-15 02:02:00 Mine is a VF 858 Huawei Android 2.2 When I want to type I turn it sideways and the touch keyboard becomes larger. I have turned off predictive and can now type a lot faster than I could on my old Nokia key pad one. It does take a little getting used to, but hey, that's what it's all about eh?

1231083 2011-09-15 02:08:00 I find that when people go from the cludgy old fone keyboard to a touch screen with a normal qwerty key board they never want to go back. Bit like the days of moving from a rotary dial fone to a Touch-tone one.. You never want to go back.. paulw (1826)

Yes, turn it sideways for rapid typing.

1231085 2011-09-15 03:00:00 I just use Swype these days - I'd never go back to a normal keyboard again; it's *much* faster (and miles more accurate) than the traditional hunt & peck method of typing on a touchscreen. Erayd (23)
1231086 2011-09-15 04:17:00 I will give it some time but it's not good .

When on campus, it doesn't save login details, typing in usernames and passwords is not fun, takes me like 3-5mins to just do that . And yep, sideways . I find that GPS or menu or phoning is fine but others . . . .

Takes me the same time to type google . com

I also cannot lean my hand on the screen cos it would press it .

1231087 2011-09-15 06:00:00 Most touch screens are resistive type I think, and every one of them I've had have been bad for typing. My desire hd has a capacitive touch screen, which I find to be awesome for typing. I had swype for a few weeks and got used to it, but I found it hada few flaws (still in beta) so I went back to the standard keypad. jareemon (5207)
