1255626 2012-01-24 09:43:00 other thing is Telecom own the ph lines. If there is an issue, the ISP & telecom can just blame each other. Ive seen this happen. Thats the main reason I stay with Telecom (constant ph line issues in my street)

Kinda but not quite. Chorus own the lines. Telecom Xtra are an ISP just like any other and don't get any "preferential treatment" and they're forced "to trade at arms length with the other parts of telecom".

I'm going to recommend Slingshot. Their helpdesk is decent, plan value-for-money is good, and they don't over subscribe their non-unlimited plans :)

1255627 2012-01-25 04:13:00 Thanks for your opinion Chilling_Silence. Im now wondering why I am paying Telecom $158.17 a month to Telecom for 100Gb Broandband and Phone. Slingshot are advertising the same amount of broadband for $50 bucks. Add $45 for phone and wiring and its only $95.00. Am I missing something?..ACK... ollieogg (6593)

Because Telecom just like to suck you dry. I ditto what Chill says.

I am with Telecom. Their helpdesk, so far, so good; and they are 24x7.

Yeah you're missing about $50 a month :D

Other than that, nope, not really. Their paid plans always give me full line speed at all times of the day, but I've got a second Naked DSL connection with them on their unlimited plan, and I get about 1-2mbps during peak times. I'd personally stick with a 'limited' plan to have the full speed at all times :)

Right they are the next problem on my list to be fixed then. I am tempted to ask them to justify the huge difference in price ..:angry

1255632 2012-01-25 23:05:00 Doubt they will, you'll end up speaking with a helpdesk monkey who's got no say in that kind of thing, nor do they really care... ;) Chilling_Silence (9)
