1231792 2011-09-17 14:10:00 I find it really weird that tissue in large boxes come in 2 ply versions, but NOT pocket tissues...

Countdown and warehouse doesn't carry any 2 ply pocket tissue for some reason. This is really weird...

1231793 2011-09-17 19:57:00 Most people find the traditional cloth pockets stand up to coins, wallets, washing machines etc. better than tissue ones. ;) R2x1 (4628)
1231794 2011-09-17 23:17:00 I know this may well be thinking out of the square ... but have you ever considered using TWO single ply tissues ... :D SP8's (9836)
1231795 2011-09-18 00:27:00 Maybe they just dont want to carry a box around with them all the time???????
Have you tried any other supermarkets or even the cheap $2.00 shop......

1231798 2011-09-18 05:56:00 I used to test tissues/paper for porosity, moisture, stain, etc, from CHH NZ. Often got 4 ply, not much 2 ply for testing. I think 2 ply pocket were more premium, requiring strict manufacture hygienic type conditions. Thus perhaps more likely found in upmarket branded type suppliers/importers, e.g. gift suppliers, chemists, and similar. And I know NZ papers (from Pulp) were marketed as virgin (late 90's), but actually contained about 7 % recycled or less. The rest (larger 4 ply facials) are more likely to be generic mass produced so called virgin pulp. But there are ton's of recycled paper in NZ to get rid off... kahawai chaser (3545)

1231800 2011-09-18 10:04:00 Kleenex do 9x pocket packs of "ultra-soft" tissues that are roughly equivalent to 2-ply. They are 21cm x 21cm, are at least as good as 2-ply, and are well worth a try. I don't know how many 9-packs come in the main package but I have found them very good. The pocket pack is resealable as well so you don't end up with a pocket full of paper mache.

Normal tissues leak through even if multiple-folded, but these don't, at least they haven't in my experieince.
