2011-09-15 21:10:00 | Hey Guys I can't believe this hasn't been posted yet with all you people who have downloaded it but I want to hear from you. If you've installed Windows 8, post here your likes and dislikes, little tricks you've found, and anything else you think might be interesting. I'll start the ball rolling. I'm running the Windows 8 64-bit with Dev Tools. It took 12 attempts for it to even start installing but that was my fault for not reading info correctly. I installed using a VHD with the instructions found at Scott Hanselman's Tutorial (www.hanselman.com wOffAVHDVirtualHardDisk.aspx). Once this was finally set up I was in. My first thoughts were "this is really cool", but as I started to actually use it it annoyed me more and more. For example can ANYONE tell me how to close an app? And my other annoyance is the Explorer Ribbon. That is just plain stupid. Some things can be helpful and I'm sure I'd get use to it but it seemed pointless to me. The plus for me, the games on it are really well done! :D Any input from you guys would be great. Tell us what you think.

2011-09-15 21:18:00 | Had a quick play with it and thought meh. Just Windows 7 with a fancy skin on top. I also couldn't see how to close a program. Need to have a better look. One thing I thought strange was that it didn't detect the Intel graphics card in the Centrino laptop I installed it on.

2011-09-15 22:50:00 | The first thing I noticed was that Windows 8 has a new BSOD :p I then installed it on a physical computer (oldish tablet PC with single touch) instead of VMware and it's running smoothly now. Metro is great with a touch screen but doesn't really work with a mouse and keyboard...

2011-09-16 00:05:00 | One thing I found "interesting" there appears to be no "all Programs" like previous versions of windows. In the past when you click on the start button up would pop the menu(s) -- all of that is gone -- Well gone to apps as far as I can see. To enter those you have to move the mouse to the very left of the start button, click search then apps to expand them all out ---- just a thought - people who disable the indexing, may very well kill the way W8 works ?? One annoying thing -- tried some of the games :) wont work on my screen -- says touch / move fingers here etc-- not a touch screen :p

2011-09-16 00:21:00 | I think the touch interface is great - on touch screens. Would much rather have only a Windows 7 style interface for desktops. It's so awkward using a mouse on a touch interface. | jwil1 (65) | |
2011-09-16 01:44:00 | wainuitech: I was able to play the space game using the arrow keys (even though it doesn't say you can). GameJunkie: I managed to download it in half an hour over WiFi at uni :D if you want I could get the ISO to you some other way if you're in Auckland? I've noticed it no longer shows the confirm delete dialog by default... also the new copy window is pretty cool :D
