| 1230463 | 2011-09-12 04:32:00 | The website (www.ourfarsouth.org) says they think the transmitter has stopped working - "it may have fallen off". Are they too squeamish to raise the possibility that it may now be inside an Orca? | Tony (4941) | ||

| 1230465 | 2011-09-12 08:45:00 | :help: This is something we will never know Orca are famously spotted in Auckland Harbour, so if the website suddenly starts tracking Happy Feet's GPS off Bean Rock, it may be safe to assume an Orca is the culprit, having dined on our favourite penguin ... | 1230467 | 2011-09-13 21:48:00 | The lesson here is to ignore penguins that wash up on the beach. Don't alert the media, don't "save" it, let nature take its course. It came from the sea, the sea will reclaim it. Whats next?, saving lambs from stress by slaughtering them? |

| 1230471 | 2011-09-13 23:58:00 | I wonder what the survival rate of migrating penguins is. Probably something they should have looked into before releasing him. Orca and leopard seals are the recognised predators, but I'm sure there are other things in the ocean that are dangerous to penguins also. Mostly though I agree it was a waste of time and money, I'm sure stray penguins have been finding their way to NZ shores long before people were here to interfere. |
