| 1367 | 1999-03-08 08:20:00 | Modem-Dynalink VQH1456 Internal ISP-IHUG NZ Wide Plan OS-W95C (Using DUN 1.3) Location-Central Napier I upgraded my modem to the V.90 standard following Dynalink's instructions, and things went fine. I have been unable to connect at more than 33.6, even though IHUG says that I should be able to. I have removed and reinstalled the modem several times. when I reinstall and choose 'no' for detect hardware and select the proper modem, it installs fine, but on reboot, the computer detects and installs a 'plug and Play modem', so then I have 2 installations. It seems to like to use the Plug and play modem, and not the dynalink model specified. Initial connection seems to take forever. I followed your advice on page 122 of the March issue, but I can't select the same port that the modem is installed in. It doesn't seem to be listed under 'Ports'. I know there is a myriad of things that affect connection speed, but I have a feeling something is just not configured properly. Modem and Internet configuration is something that seems that seems to get a lot of people. Maybe a good topic for a feature article? Thanks |
