1825 1999-05-11 13:09:00 I have a 400MHz Amd with 128MB ram but keep getting an error message that I have run out of memory. It is especially annoying when I try to use the help in Word then I get 'WINHELP32.EXE cannot be executed because of lack of memory, try quiting some applications'. I am only running windows 98, PC-Cillin virus checker and a few other small applications + Word at the time. The same goes for other applications when I try to run them. This happens even after I have just booted up when I should have a lot of Ram available.

I have tried stopping applications that I think are unneccessary from booting up and running in the background, that happen during startup, but with no success.

I have removed a few viruses from my PC recently (I think successfully), and I think that they have caused some damage. One modified my winsock32 file and now Outlook express is very slow logging on to check for mail.

What do you think the problem is? I know that I can't really be out of memory, are there any applications around to check RAM usage with to see if there are background applications or viruses in there that shouldn't be???

Thanks,

Leigh
