| 1256526 | 2012-01-30 01:00:00 | I am connected to the outside world via my satellite internet connection. No landline, no cellphone coverage, no wireless link. I have the capability to select various TCP/IP settings (via Tweakmaster) giving differing download and upload speeds. The IPS is supposed to be providing 2meg downloads and 1meg uploads. Latency ranges from 800ms to 1500ms. The downloads and uploads are more or less in line with the stated IPS figures most of the time. It appears that some of the settings that I can select may give a better download than the upload, and some settings favour a better upload, at the cost of the download speed. Is it possible that a better upload speed would outweigh the benefits of a slightly better download speed? |

Because of the way that TCP works it replies to say "Yeah thanks, got that, it's all OK, no need to re-send". Otherwise, at the speeds you're mentioning, a faster download speed is almost always more desirable. | Chilling_Silence (9) | ||
