1232316 2011-09-20 04:23:00 I've been asked to ring someone on a phone number 212 wxyz

Is that a toll call, or a cell phone or what? It's the first time I've come across one.

Thanks

1232317 2011-09-20 04:35:00 Well country code 212 is Morocco DeSade (984)
1232318 2011-09-20 04:46:00 I last went to Morocco in the '80s, and I certainly didn't pick up any Moroccan numbers (or anything else for that matter!) when I was there, so it can't be that.... tuiruru (12277)
1232319 2011-09-20 04:49:00 If you put a 0 in front it looks like a vodafone number plod (107)
1232320 2011-09-20 04:49:00 It could just be a New Zealand cellphone number, without the 0.

For example, 021 200 1234 might be expressed as 21 200 1234 by someone not familiar with our numbering system, or more commonly, +64 21 200 1234 in international format.

Alternatively it could be a New York number if the person telling you it happens to be American.

1232321 2011-09-20 05:19:00 Invercargill has 213 xxxx to 217 xxxx I think. 212 might be down that way also, possibly Bluff? Winston will know. Iantech (16386)

ThanksIf it's a 7-digit number starting with 212 (as per your '212 XXYZ' format above), then it's a landline call within your local region (e.g. 04, 09 etc). This may or may not be within your 'local free calling area' - that depends on your phone plan - but calling it will never cost more than a standard NZ national landline.

It is *not* an international or cellphone number.

1232324 2011-09-20 05:44:00 @Plod, George and Ian - Someone did mention Vodafone and something about it acting like a "local" number ie you don't have the area code

Edit: crossed with Eryad's last post (bugle please somebody :)
