2011-09-21 21:11:00 | The most important thing is to get a Z68 motherboard and make use of Intel's Quick Sync Google Quick Sync and look at AnandTech's review

2011-09-22 05:29:00 | It's supported by like 2 programs (jan 2011). There may be more now but I doubt it's mainstream. I might be a good investment if you want to be future proof but you're gambling on if it will catch on or not. I personally wouldn't buy a motherboard for the purpose of having Quick Sync at the moment. | icow (15313) | |
2011-09-22 05:33:00 | Droolage, this will be a mint PC. I have an ATI HD6870 running 4x screens off it easy as pie. for video editing a HD6850 would be fine, you'll just need to pick on one active displayport to DVI adapter, about $50

2011-09-22 10:46:00 | Hey guys, is now the right time to build a computer? Are there any new parts coming out very soon that I should wait for? Or should I just start now..? | AquuL (16558) | |
2011-09-22 10:52:00 | the 8150p (8 core AMD CPU) is due basically now (already smashed some world records and the OEM cpu's have been shipped apparently). Ivy Bridge is due next year. I will buy a 8150p if i can afford it. | icow (15313) | |

2011-09-22 11:07:00 | $370-ish NZ if the price is directly US to NZ. Its RRP in the US is $300. | icow (15313) | |
2011-09-24 10:29:00 | Hey guys, comment on on the following build telling me what you think: CPU: Intel i7 2600K 3.4Ghz Unlocked Quad Core CPU + Cooler Master Hyper212 Heatsink Motherboard: Gigabyte P67A-UD3R Intel P67 USB3 SATA3 motherboard RAM: Kingston HyperX 16GB DDR3-1600 Dual Channel Memory SSD: Intel 120GB SSD for Boot Drive HDD: WD 2TB Black SATA3 7200RPM 64MB Cache HDD for Storage Case: Antec Nine Hundred Two V3 Case PSU: AcBel 800W Power Supply R8 85%+ Efficiency Disc drive: Liteon 24V Dual Layer DVD Writer GPU: ATI HD6950 2GB GDDR5 DX11 Graphics Card Estimated Total $2680 inc GST. The Sandy Bridge chipset supports max 16GB of memory (using 4GB sticks, with 8GB sticks the computer will support upto 32GB) and for 24GB (with 4GB sticks) I would have to go to the X58 chipset with the Nehalem processors and I will lose CPU performance compared with the 2600K. An SSD is a must for a high end machine and Intel are the most reliable. The 2TB Black drive for storage is one of the fastest if not the fastest 2TB drive available. For video editing the CPU is one of the most important and the 2600Ks ability to reach 4.0Ghz and above with ease will be perfect for video editing. The card is the best price/performance ratio card on the market today, the HD6950 2GB, has all the connections I will need for 3 monitors. Tell me if you think I should upgrade anything, tell me if you think the 800W power supply will suffice, and give any other ideas/comments you like. If you spot anything incompatible, please say too.. Thanks!~~

2011-09-24 19:30:00 | That looks great, agree on the chipset and 16Gb will be good, the sandy bridge is the way to go. Antec cases great for airflow, good choice Not sure on PSU quality, someone else here will know but 800W is plenty NICE! EDIT: Are you going to run win7?
