2011-09-20 21:59:00 | Haven't seen anyone with 95 for a while, although I did a spiffy Pentium 166 board replacement a couple of years ago for a small business that had their label database on it  .... still get the occasional client running 98. Kind of hard getting an AV on there, last time I checked Avast 4 was still updating! It's not fun working on these relics. | Renegade (16270) | |
2011-09-20 23:38:00 | I worked for a short while for a company that did testing of fires, solar panels and Consumer mag stuff and all the test PC's ran win95 as all the testing programs were too old to run on anything else | gary67 (56) | |

2011-09-21 00:45:00 | Businesses in general won't adopt windows 8 any time soon. In my experience large companies tend to stick with an OS until it becomes too obsolete for their use, and generally upgrade to a mature and proven alternative. They are far more likely to switch to 7 once XP becomes a liability, early adoption is not generally a corporate thing. As an example this laptop is running XP and only got upgraded from IE6 to IE8 a few months ago when I had problems with an app I needed to run. With all the corporate systems, security, monitoring software, company specific software, etc, upgrading an OS is no small thing. Our laptops come with 7 preinstalled and our IT department removes it and installs XP.

2011-09-21 00:45:00 | But you don't need 8 for ipv6, pretty much everything does it, including XP. And the only people screaming "update" are the ones that want your money. ... and new netblocks will only be accessible by ipv6, ipv4 is not going away any time soon. Lol, IPv6 has been supported since NT4. I don't see it being an issue on a LAN anyway.

Open a command prompt, type in netsh int ipv6 install takes a few minutes, till OK appears, open the network connection and IPV6 is not showing. :) |

2011-09-21 02:10:00 | I only moved to Win7 early as I knew friends would get new computers then ask me why can't I do this like I used to in XP, so it was more for the learning experience than because I wanted to. I don't see me doing the same with Win 8 though | gary67 (56) | |
