1256489 2012-01-29 18:26:00 I haven't found a game I like in 7 years. The last one was Quake 4. I have all the Doom, Quake, Unreal etc. games that I would like to play again. I have plenty of removable hard drives and DOS 6.22 which might not even work but the oldest OS I have is ME so does anyone know how I can play these old DOS and 3.1 windows games? lostsoul62 (16011)

I used it a few years ago to play police quest and space quest.

I'll try it on my XP computer. Doom came out 20 years ago and 3.1 windows put it in a Dos format and with a lot of configuring I got it to run so I'm hoping with the new motherboards and what not it can still run on the new computers.

1256492 2012-01-29 20:04:00 I have Unreal which was one of the first 3D graphics games. It was a Windows 95/98 game. I also have a version which came out on a gaming mag cover disk which allowed you to play it on XP. Do a Google search and you might be able to find it. Check this site out for playing older games, here (www.gog.com).

1256493 2012-01-29 20:36:00 Doom has always been a swine when it comes to mouse recognition.

Used to be downloading a custom mouse driver would do it.

There's also something like DosBox, being a front-end for all the doom games. Can't recall the name however.

I used to love the original Dooms. However, the graphics really is hard to tolerate when compared with modern fare now.

Steam is currently charging US$9.99 for each of the Dooms, and I wouldn't trust Steam to have the mouse issue sorted either.
This is not good value, as at some times of the year you can have the whole id catalogue at a much cheaper rate per title.

Quake 3 was the best imo.

1256494 2012-01-29 20:45:00 Ah, those were the days, best game ever for its time. Heretic was another (used modified Doom engine). Possibly still have copies of them around here somewhere. Iantech (16386)

Here's a quick tutorial (www.dosgamers.com) to set up Doomsday.
