1232488 2011-09-20 11:20:00 Strange. I read a number of forums on the net and everyone is rambling about how businesses need to upgrade to Windows 7..

Isn't Windows 8 just around the corner?

1232489 2011-09-20 11:35:00 yes you are correct, but windows seven is based for desktops lap tops etc and by the sounds of it windows 8 is heading in a completely different direction,
seven is fantastic but everyone is screaming update because there is a panic in the industry about level 4 ip addressing coming to an end , ( reminds me of the y2k panic in 1999 everyone screamed and panicked that every computer in the world would stop on january 1st 2000, which never happened lol funny how history repeats itself

1232490 2011-09-20 11:50:00 Windows XP is nearly 10 years old... it's akin to using Windows 95 in 2005 - or heaven forbid, still using Windows Me today!! jwil1 (65)
1232491 2011-09-20 12:14:00 Nothing wrong with XP ... that good Win7 even has an XP mode ... :D SP8's (9836)

1232493 2011-09-20 12:37:00 Windows 8 appears to be desperately searching for a reason to exist at the moment (other than marketing to get a bit of hysteria going). R2x1 (4628)

But you don't need 8 for ipv6, pretty much everything does it, including XP.
And the only people screaming "update" are the ones that want your money.
... and new netblocks will only be accessible by ipv6, ipv4 is not going away any time soon.

1232497 2011-09-20 21:56:00 Like many I used to use WIN95 along with "Norton Navigator" (that followed "Norton Commander"). Both I found to be wonderful, they don't make programs that good anymore. Bryan (147)
