After a shutdown of about 45mins the registry data is lost or corrupt and the computer reloads registry data from backup - all previous settings are lost and often the computer finds (again) the Matrox Millenium video card. Have tried loading W95 SR2, W98 (upgrade and OEM versions) all on a clean formatted HDD. Have even replaced the HDD just in case the data was being lost off the HDD (faulty media). Have run CheckIt 2000 - no faults found. CPU is Cyrix 133, 96Mb RAM, Creative Labs soundcard installed. Modem was installed (when installed all dialup networking settings would be lost after shutdown for more the about 45 mins) but is not currently installed. LPT2 card installed (needed). No IRQ conflicts showing. Once set up computer would operate normally. If shut down for less than about 30 minutes the computer would boot normally - the problem arises only when shut down for longer periods. Have tried shifting the MM card to a different PCI slot - no good. Have tried changing variuos PCI settings in the BIOS - no good. Was running W95 (early version) but needed to upgrade to W98 to install new 6Gb HDD with a single partition. Problems started then. HELP!!! |
