| 1963 | 1999-05-27 09:16:00 | I am having a problem with my keyboard in that when I start up my PC, I get an error message saying 'keyboard error or no keyboard' and the PC stalls on the first startup screen. I then have to unplug the keyboard and reboot the PC and then it will start properly. This does not happen every time, and has been becomming more frequent lately. I have also noticed that sometimes when the PC has booted up, the speakers have not been recognised. When this happens, the startup screen displays the message 'updating ESCD....success'. I get this message when the PC first doesnt recognise the speakers, and also when the PC does recognise the speakers again during startup. While the speakers aren't recognised, I get no sound. Like the keyboard problem, this doesn't always happen, and the two problems don't always happen together. Is this a hardware fault or a software fault? I am running Windows 98, with a Cyrix PR200MMX processor and 64 megabytes of RAM. Any advice would be helpful, thanks. |
