2026	1999-06-06 08:36:00	I am having trouble with both scandisk and disk defragmenter. I was using disk defragmenter each week up until about a month ago successfully, and then suddenly it kept restarting itself every 2 - 5 minutes. This would persist and the disk would never stop defragmenting even after being left for a day and a night. I then checked the disk with scandisk, and this also restarted itsself ten times until scandisk stopped and reported that one or more files were writing to the disk. No programs were open other than scandisk or defrag at either time. Is there a way to see which programs mightbe running in the background, or to fix the problem without re-installing everything after formatting the drive? I am running windows 98 on a 6.4G hard drive (FAT32), with a cyrix PR200MMX processor, and 64MB RAM. I notice that Frank Jaerschky has a similar problem (posted 06/06/99) but his scandisk works without restarting all the time as well. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.	Guest (0)
