| 2069 | 1999-06-09 11:15:00 | Oh, can you please help. I have a problem starting up. This message displays: Cannot find device file that may be needed to run Windows or a window application. The windows regestry or System.ini file refers to this device file but the device file no longer exists. If you deleted this file on purpose, try uninstalling the associated application using it's unstall or setup programme. If you still want to use the application associated with this device file, try reinstalling that application to replace the missing file. dfs.vxd Press any key to continue. well then windows starts up and the prompt for the password comes up each time even though I haven't entered one. it says don't enter a password and you won't see this prompt again.but it keeps popping up each time i start up. I wouldn't have a clue what to do. i have searched the internet for the answer but i cant follow the solutiuon as its to tech for me. (or I am to simple, more to the point) Anyways the prob. started after the nice man from Ihug (AAARRRGGG) told me to change a few things in networking.(tcp/ip etc) then told me to reload win 98 again to solve the missing files. And when I spoke to the tech,he told me oh the guy shouldn't have told you to do that. So they blamed it on a windows prob. So um can you help a brain dead user like me. |
