| 2139 | 1999-06-13 00:55:00 | I upgraded two different modems to V.90 and one reports speeds of mostly 115,200kbps or sometimes 48,000kbps, the other modem still sticks to the 31,200kbps I've always gotten from my K56flex through my ISP (Southnet). Yes, it looks faster, but is it giving a real report. I haven't set it to connect only at this speed. All the programmes I've ever downloaded to test real speeds don't use the same kbps measurement. My fast modem is a Motorola Voicesurfer External and my other one is a Multitech Internal of some sort. Why do the bytes received/ sent on the little Dual Up Networking box never seem to resemble the kbps speeds?? |
