apart from teaching, one of my jobs at school is looking after our PC networks. One is rather small, just the principal's and the school secretary's. This morning i was called to a machine which was continuously resetting itself b4 booting to win 98. The power lights were also turning off....i thought to myself that the power supply might be shot, but i managed to boot up in safe mode, and then on to normal mode...all is well now...but later on in the day the OTHER machine in this simple peer to peer network started doing exactly the same thing. But now it says that the hdd is unusable (eek!). both machines are KTX cyrix 233s (M575 MB), paired up with a cross over rj45 cable. A virus? Two power supplies going west at the same time? Any ideas would help.... |
