| 1258376 | 2012-02-10 01:58:00 | Hi Team Okay, so there was no map-size contraint worth worrying about, so I decided to update the maps on my MY 60T and MY 75T units (bought the MY 60 then Mrs T won the MY 75 just to spite me, she said I didn't need the 60T, and she proved it) but anyway, I can't get either of the two to log on to the NAVMAN site, in fact they won't cooperate at all. I've tried them on 4 computers, two XP SP3 and two W2K XP #1: Not recognised at all, shows no disks. Caused my RAID array to reboot and rebuild a disk. XP #2: Recognises and gets to the "Connecting to upgrade server" message and stops there. W2K #1: Shows "Connecting to upgrade server" message and shows "Done" at the bottom of the screen but nothing actually happened. W2K #2: Sees the NMs as some obscure USB device then sits there and sulks. Installing NAVDESK didn't improve matters (but on reflection that was on a W2K machine so I might have to revisit that). Some web searches suggst that the NM is rather flakey in this department and that my experiences are not altogether unique. I'll install NAVDESK on my main computer and try again. Watch this space. It doesnt actually say what OS you need, for it to work Sadly, No. Over the last several hours I have tried different USB leads, plugged them into the main outlets at the rear of the computer but neither the 60T nor the 75T will respond in any way. I've tried them on W2K but it appears that they are not able to work on that OS because the computer tries to install an unrelated USB driver. On my computer they lock up XP and if I force a shutdown of the NAVMAN I damage the RAID array, but if I retstart the computer it hangs on shutdown for about 10 minutes then finaly closes and reboots safely. It is lottery whether they are even recognised as USB drives, and internet searches suggest that this is not an entirely unknown problem, but I've found no solutions. If I run them on Billy Jnr's XP computer I get a little further but still no ability to update the maps etc. The 75T is still under warranty so I'll send it back, the 60T I'll not worry about because it is only used on rare occasions when I'm going somewhere not known to me and I'm in a hurry and don't have time to check the map before I leave. Navdesk was no help, it only works after a two-way connection is established. Cheers Billy 8-{) |
