2012-02-09 03:15:00 | Hi. I intend to fill in the feedback form on the mediaworks.co.nz website (for technical issues), but before I do I just want to see f anyone else is having as much difficulty as I am watching TV Four ondemand. The website is here (ondemand.four.co.nz) and I cannot get a single show to play. The advertisement before the show plays OK, and then it remains stuck on "This video is only available to NZ viewers, if you are in NZ this video will play shortly. Loading". And it will stay loading for hours until I give up. According to page the "problems with video playback" link directs to (underneath the video box), if you can see the ad OK but get stuck on that loading screen it means: "Our servers can get inundated with requests during peak times (between 7pm and midnight). If you are trying to watch during these times, you may experience some difficulties. Please try again in a few minutes." Only this is four days running at varying times of day and night (as early as 8am and as late as 1.30am). I've tried IE, FF, Chrome, and with all adblockers and scriptblockers etc disabled, yet still no joy. Am running current versions of all browsers and of flashplayer etc, so don't think it's that. Anyone else finding the same?

2012-02-09 03:35:00 | Nope. Site works ok for me with chrome and adblock. I do get the 'our servers' message but it disappears a split second later and the vid runs ok. | Catweazle (2535) | |
2012-02-09 03:45:00 | Thanks dugimodo and catweazle. Dugimodo I'm not too sure exactly what a VPN is (am not an advanced user). As for whether I'm using a proxy, I can tell you what my settings are in FF and IE, but I'm not sure where else I should look to check that. If I tell you what IE & FF settings say in regards to proxy settings, perhaps you can tell me if I am or not? Where would I find out if I'm using a VPN? This is what IE8 says: internet options > connections > LAN settings > proxy server is unchecked (as are the other two boxes on that window). This is what FF10 says: options > advanced > network > configure how FF connects toi the internet > settings > Use system proxy settings is checked. I wonder if it is the webscanner in avast blocking it? (EDIT - it isn't avast's webscanner - just disabled that and tried and no joy). The proxy settings for avast has the "use IE settings" checked. Sorry to need the extra guidance - I really appreciate the help.

2012-02-09 03:55:00 | VPN is short for virtual private network, you'd know if you had set one up. People use them or proxy services to access overseas websites that don't work from NZ so if you were using one it would look like you were outside NZ. I didn't think it was likely, as if you'd figured out how to do that you would likely realise it was causing your trouble. I've used PeerBlock in the past and noticed it stops all kinds of websites working properly so that's another possibility if you use it.

2012-02-09 03:59:00 | Thanks dugimodo. In that case no, I don't have a VPN. I also don't have PeerBlock (I assume - I have never heard of it). So the settings I listed above from FF and IE, did they tell you if I am using a proxy or not? Or is there somewhere else I need to check? | catspyjamas (15614) | |
2012-02-09 04:02:00 | Nope that's me out of Ideas, you'll have to wait for one of the resident geniuses to come up with something. | dugimodo (138) | |
2012-02-09 04:07:00 | No worries, thanks for the suggestions anyway. It's strange because I can play videos on all other sites just fine, and have run into websites who detect that I am not from the USA and have declined me playing their stuff (Pandora.com and hulu.com) so I'm pretty sure TV Four should be able to tell I'm a kiwi user too. Hopefully someone else might be able to shed some light.

2012-02-09 07:39:00 | Try a different firewall perhaps? Java or Silverlight or some Adobe plugin required perhaps? See what proxy your ISP recommends, and go with that for a trial.

2012-02-09 10:03:00 | Runs OK for me (Opera , Online Armour firewall and MSS AV). Have you updated your Flash Player recently older versions not running properly on newer content can give problems. | PPp (9511) | |
