1233954 2011-09-27 13:31:00 Apart from the obvious Trademe, does anyone know where I can get a cheap Android Tab to try one out before sinking $$$ into a Transformer or something like it. DeSade (984)
1233955 2011-09-27 19:16:00 I've tried the "Apad" series that pbtech do (All 3 models). They've got *nothing* on the Transformer.

Bit the bullet and go the whole hog, you'll just be left with a bad taste in the mouth from the cheaper ones...

1233956 2011-09-27 20:09:00 Don't bother with the cheapos. Most are slow, inaccurate touchscreens, and run Android 2.x. It will ruin the experience, as Chill said. They are not even on the same planet as the Transformer or Iconia. You may as well go and ride a skateboard to see what a Lamborghini drives like. inphinity (7274)
1233957 2011-09-27 20:25:00 What's your first impressions of the Lenovo, Chill? johcar (6283)
1233958 2011-09-27 21:20:00 Quite nice actually!! For a business, it's a real winner! Will blog about it tonight hopefully :D Chilling_Silence (9)
1233959 2011-09-27 21:21:00 Is the Transformer better than the Iconia? DeSade (984)
1233960 2011-09-27 22:32:00 I was wondering about a cheaper 7" tablet myself, but most people say to avoid them.
I want an E-book reader but am not overly keen on being locked to a proprietary format. I thought a cheap tablet with an app for the correct formats would be more flexible long term and 7" seems Ideal for reading.
Might just suck it up and buy a kindle, it's not that expensive I guess.

1233961 2011-09-27 22:58:00 Love my Transformer .

Had a couple of minor issues recently, the first being the unit appearing to be fully charged even though it was only at 96%, but this seems to have resolved itself with a bit of docking and undocking - possible minor synchronisation issue between the keyboard and the screen .

The second is that I have had an issue with a "com . google . process . gapps" (Google Apps) process displaying a fail message when browsing occasionally, although this is intermittent and not fatal (just annoying) .

I have logged a ticket with ASUS, but they haven't been particularly helpful (which is not like them at all) and have just advised me to "uninstall recently installed apps and failing that do a factory reset"!!! It's very obvious to me that this is an Android v3 . 2 issue as it does not occur on my Sensation running 2 . 3 . 3 . Cursory examination of several forums suggest that this is a Honeycomb issue as it's occurring on other devices also . . .

The Transformer version of Honeycomb is one which has been customised by ASUS, so my thinking is that it's their responsibility to resolve . Interestingly, over the last few days, I have only seen the issue a couple of times . Some of the comments I have found relating to this issue suggests that it is related to the quantity of data trying to be synchronised . . .

But apart from these minor gripes, the unit is excellent . . .
