1234405 2011-10-03 05:48:00 as much as I respect our soldiers they all go to war knowing the risks.

1234406 2011-10-03 06:17:00 I think we take it as read that we mean the contents of the world, not the world itself.

I go along with enjoying the ride, to do otherwise leads to neurosis, that is, a denial of reality.

1234407 2011-10-03 10:48:00 If New Zealand has anything to be scared of it is being seen to be too friendly with USA the biggest war mongers on earth! The Moslem countries are not the slightest bit interested in this country, other than its association with USA . We should emulate the Scandinavian countries who get on with there own business, have sound economy's and keep out of the media .

So you think Scandinavia has remained aloof?

Coalition forces in Afghanistan include soldiers from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Croatia, Albania, Denmark etc etc . In fact one of the best documentaries of the war is about Danish soldiers . . wikipedia . org/wiki/Armadillo_%28film%29" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org

Not a very convincing way to avoid the attentions of the Muslim world . . .

Back to the recent - The CIA recruited and trained most, if not all members of Al-Qaeda (Which in English apparently translates to "The Database", which the CIA apparently has kept record of all these trained mujahideen) . Originally Al-Qaeda was set up to fight the Russians, but then conveniently became the boogie man to blame on modern false flag terrorist attacks and magically, Osama bin Laden (CIA code name: Tim Osman) was now the head of Al-CIAaeda .

That is a woeful mishmash of inaccuracies .

For the record: the US in continuing Cold War strategies against the Soviet Union, provided arms to various independent Afghanistani mujahideen . This was through the direct assistance of Pakistan . The mujahideen themselves were composed of warlord factions who grudgingly cooperated to fight the Russians .

Al Qaeda did not exist . The Taliban did not exist .

The Russians pulled out of Afghanistan in 1988 leaving a Communist government which fell in 1992 . The new govt was composed of warlord factions who argued and continued to switch loyalties as they have done since Alexander passed through . Even the British were defeated by them .

Osama Bin Laden established Al Qaeda in 1989 having fought in Afghanistan .

The Taleban emerged in 1993 as a Pushtun group of strict religionists who abhorred the lawlessness of the government . They were welcomed by the population and became the govt in 1996 . In fact they did a great deal of good bringing peace and stability to a country laid waste by a decade of war .

1234408 2011-10-03 18:13:00 I also think future wars will be about food, water, nobody will care about your religion.

sarel

I agree, with the amount of pollution happening around the globe, there is already a corporate rush for water sources. Hydraulic fracturing in the US and Aus is destroying the underground water table, check out the documentary film Gas Land (Trailer Here (www.youtube.com)). I beleive fracking is happening in the south island in NZ as well. Today we fight for water, tomorrow we fight for air...

Add to that the fact that the defacto leader (perhaps leader isn't the right word) of the mujahideen, Massoud, during the Soviet war was assassinated a few days before 9/11 .
And the majority of his troop from the Soviet era were reorganized as the Northern Alliance and had been fighting the Taliban since the 90s . . .

Very nicely put, what a pity putting things so well doesn't begin to give us the answer.

Then there is the chaos in the financial world, lets put that nicely too, see if that resolves it all.

Let us remember it is a mad mad world.

1234411 2011-10-05 00:15:00 I think this is the real reason the west is in Libya - speakup-usa.com

They have a better economy, with a monetary system that isn't based on borrowing (debt) in order to inject more credit into the money supply. Loans are interest free in Libya, electricity is apparently free, gas is cheap, if you want to buy a car, the government pays 50% of it.

Don't believe what I say, I could be a raving lunatic! look it up :)

Libya sounds like paradise.

You should go there.

Prove your lunacy.
