Helen was a very good Prime Minister. Not afraid to call a spade a shovel!

What good did she ever do for this country?

1234396 2011-10-02 08:59:00 Didnt read past the first page but as much as I respect our soldiers they all go to war knowing the risks. hueybot3000 (3646)
1234397 2011-10-02 09:52:00 I'm sure those soldiers know that the chances of them getting killed, but I am sure that these NZ soldiers are doing what they believe in. My sympathies go out to the familes of the soldiers killed in action robertsonam (16573)
1234398 2011-10-02 19:37:00 To add to Metla's little bit of truth - when I served in an army we trained up to be soldiers and you were itching for a "war". That's why we have a thing called an Army, you know. Not getting killed is actually the challenge, and that will only happen if you kill them before they kill you. I'd rather fight the *rs*h*l*s in Afghanistan than on our soil - which by the way is coming - look at our open spaces, plentiful water, etc.etc. - any of the nations with over a billion citizens would be salivating thinking about us. I also think future wars will be about food, water, nobody will care about your religion.

Mate, 50,000 people are granted NZ Permanent Residency every year... We don't have to worry about anyone trying to steal our soil.
As for water, so long as there is enough power (ie nuclear plans) to keep desalination pans running, will not be a problem from most nations. It's cheaper than invading us or anyone else for it, unless they are in Africa - I'd love to see Somalis try and invade us.

What makes you think they aren't already. refugee immigration?? Get enough here and a very vocal minority can cause havoc..

As I said... 50,000 resident visas being granted every year... Refugees make up a very small number of that 50k, IIRC less than 1,000.

How many illegal immigrants do we have in NZ, estimates say 16,000 - it's much higher than that.
People don't want to report them because Immigration don't take anonymous tips anymore.
These people are taking away jobs from those who SHOULD be here because they work for 7-8$ an hour. And of course, don't have to pay tax or anything else.

Meh, they just want some sheep love :)

1234403 2011-10-03 05:28:00 The world is a mad house, I am sure we will all agree.

Take Afghanistan, I think their hobby is making war and we are supposed to help sort out the different factions, not a show I would say.

Take Russia, Putin an absolute gangster is looking forward to another term as president, I mean to say.
