They will tell you that the correct English spelling is "miaow." I have only heard American cats meow.:) Trev is correct - only American cats "meow." British (and NZ) cats "miaow." Regretably, the incorrect American spelling of many words is bastardising the English languague and, sadly, because the American spelling is dominant, people think it is correct. One other instance is the American "jail." The correct English spelling is "gaol." Your signature is very true, "It's pure laziness to use American spelling." |
