Hell, if you want something exceptionally interesting and unique, I would recommend Cazador on Dominion Rd, it's a game restaurant and as a one off it's pretty damn good . I highly recommend .

There are numerous cafes on the Waterfront, they aren't too bad .

I'd stay away from Sky City (in the casino building) and City Life's restaurants .

Although there is a restaurant in the Sky City Grand Hotel, on Federal Street and I have heard good things about that .

Ninja my man ... once they get the taste for it they expect it every weekend and you're screwed. Might I suggest the local fish 'n' chip shop ... :D

1233290 2011-09-25 05:10:00 You can't go past Geoff Scott's Vinnies on Jervois Road.

Geoff is an outstanding chef. The restaurant is renowned for its quality cuisine, superb wines and great staff, but don't let that put you off - it's affordable although you should count on around $200 for two all up.

Vinnies is not pretentious as are some wanna be restaurants, and certainly not overpriced as some.

Tip - book ahead, go see them and choose the menu to be presented that will be in your price range

Good luck :)

1233291 2011-09-25 08:27:00 If you want a quiet restaurant I would avoid the waterfront. Places like French cafe, Vinnies and Bowman's in mt Eden would be a better choice. wmoore (6009)
1233292 2011-09-26 09:09:00 If you want the best and are prepared to pay for it, then I highly recommend No 5. KenESmith (6287)

At No 5 City Road, Auckland, Just off Symonds Street - It is extremely good, the last time I went there which was over 6 years ago(It is still in business),the food and service ( silver service at the table) could not be faulted.

If you take your young lady there I guarantee she will be impressed, especially when she sees the prices ( Try not to let the cost make your eyes water)

“ Really enjoyed being here tonight - our last night out before our final concert on our one month tour - Couldn't have ended on a better meal. Thank You!”

I would suggest these prices are about average for a decent resturant in auckland and not that over the top at all. Whether they suit the OP's budget is up to them of course.
