| 2499 | 1999-07-23 00:46:00 | I wrote the other day about problems with a Compaq Presario 4505 (win 95, Pent. 166MMX). Specifically, it won't recognise the Floppy disc(in DOS or Windows) or the CD ROM. I have been through all the procedures given by Compaq for refreshing drivers etc without success. Now I have a problem with a message: 'Msgsrv32 - This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.' I got this message during a windows reinstallation. The problem I have now is that I am stuck halfway through the reinstallation because this message won't allow me to go further. I cannot even get into safe mode. I am assuming it is something to do with the Task Manager as when the message comes up, if I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del, a task manager window comes up. Does anybody have any ideas about how to get rid of it? I assume I will have to do it in DOS as I can't get into safe mode. Any other thoughts about the floppy or CD Rom problems would be appreciated. Thanks Darryl Lennane |
