2636 1999-08-09 09:25:00 I had to reformat computer so I saved my outlook express messages from:
C:\WINDOWS\Application
Data\Identities\{AFC*****-****-****-****-************}\Microsoft\Outlook
Express as .dbx files. According to help these are compressed mail
messages. Now I can't reinstall these files. Anyone out there know how I
can reinstall these or at least read them. I have tried Click File|Import|Messages, and select Microsoft Outlook Express 5. You can then browse to the folder where you put the *.dbx files. this said that there were no mail file in the folder.HELP PLEASE.

traditionally i have copied the dbx files back into the new outlook express directory and they have appeared. try it may work for you

however recently I have lost access to my created folders (can still see inbos , deleted etc) but not my personal folders storing messages. still trying to get an answer to extracting the messages.

best of luck chrisz
