| 2656 | 1999-08-12 05:06:00 | We use one phone line with faxability, shared between the fax and the modem on the server. The fax only answers calls coming in with the disctinctive fax ring. When we set the modem to auto answer (to allow dial in access to the server) then it also answers all incoming faxes as the modem picks up the call faster than the fax. There appears to be no way to make the modem wait till the 2nd or 3rd ring before it picks up. We have tried entering the string ATS0=2 in the modem set up field, however this appears to only send the string on dial out, and resets the modem on hang up. We have tried to edit the inf file that the modem calls on start up, however this file calls up another file call unimodem which is not dos editable. All the boffins suggest I need a separate phone line for the fax and the modem, but that costs money. Are there any other potential solutions? |
