I installed Win98 (2ndEd) on a newly formatted c: partition, and keep having problems with Win98 only booting to the Windows Splash screen - usually a cold boot is needed for it to reload Windows without problems (though occasionally it goes to the menu with Safe Mode highlighted).
Occasionally on close down, it only closes down to the splash screen, rather than the 'It is now safe to shut down your computer' message.
I have tried all the usual, disabling the power management etc.
I did a similar install on my other PC, and had the same close down problems. I guess BIOS could be a problem - seems odd nonetheless. Hardware problem? Search me!
