| 2764 | 1999-08-22 04:49:00 | As a subscriber to your magazine I read and endeavour to learn as much as I can. I am still confused by these things called 'cookies'. Recently I explored my Temporary Internet Files (in IE 5) and found dozens of the little blighters. Running the curser over them revealed their 'identity' and they all looked pretty innocuous. I discovered by RIGHT CLICKING on each I was offered options which included OPEN. When I clicked on that, this message appeared- 'Running a system command in this item may be unsafe. Do you wish to continue?'. I selected NO. My query is this. What are the implications of clicking YES. Could you please tell me if it is safe to DELETE these cookies which was also an option offered. I really do not understand what they are and the purpose they serve if any. Thank you. |
