2012-02-15 20:05:00 | I have been away from my home base Speedy. When we last met here, you said you could look at one of my computers to try and detect why it is not going very well. I understand you can look at it remotely. Thats fine, but what do I need to do at this end ? The computer is an Acer Aspire 5100.

2012-02-15 20:07:00 | You have to install teamviewer (www.teamviewer.com). Once its installed, it'll give you an ID and a password. Send a PM to me, with the ID and password. Then I can have a look. I maybe able to find the cause (if its software / malware related). But if its hardware related, you'll have to take it into a shop | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2012-02-16 02:35:00 | I have downloaded Team Viewer 4 times and I can see the download in my downloads folder. But nothing happens when I try to open the program. I must say that this happens a lot, not just with Team viewer. I have tried opening it as the adminstrator, but still nothing. Could we try HJT, but you would need to tell what I need to do.

2012-02-16 03:47:00 | What version of windows is it? Just install / run HJT. Then tick scan and save a log. Copy and paste the log in here | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2012-02-16 05:33:00 | Windows Vista H/Premium. It downloads HJT but no matter what I try, it won't open. But as I said before, this same thing happens a lot. I'll keep trying. | curly (6655) | |
2012-02-16 05:37:00 | Are you downloading then trying to install it?? Dont try and run it, when you download whatever file (before it has finished downloading). Disable UAC in control panel / User accounts | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2012-02-16 08:30:00 | I have had UAC disabled for some time now. Nope I don't try to run it until the download is complete - but it still does not work! | curly (6655) | |
2012-02-16 08:33:00 | Well I cant do anything if nothing will run ! Is Vista up to date with windows updates as of yesterday?? Including SP2? | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2012-02-16 08:39:00 | Maybe this is a part of the problem. A popup called Windows Installer said, " The windows installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if the windows installer is not correctly installed." Contact your support personnel. I don't know anything about this though. Perhaps a quick Google.

2012-02-16 09:25:00 | See if this works --- Curly, on the team viewer site, go to the download tab, look for the one called "For the instant customer: TeamViewer QuickSupport" under 'Additional downloads " download that. 3591 Try www.teamviewer.com Its the standalone version, doesnt need to install, it runs fine normally. The actual program will still generate a user ID and password, as per the install version, but its only one way -- you receive assistance, but cant give it like the full version (the one Speedys using)
