1259166 2012-02-15 02:08:00 I have windows 7 64 bit and use Windows live mail, and IE8

If I receive mail with an attachment or a live link I can not open them. I have to drag the attachment on to my desktop and I can then open it. An URL or e-mail address has to be copied and pasted and then works properly.
I have been doing this for ages, I know I shouldn't have to. I suspect I have a wrong setting somewhere, but I can't find it.
Anyone got the answer?
Thanks.:thanks
Jack

1259167 2012-02-15 02:28:00 In Windows live mail open menu upper left corner, select options then safety options and tick show images option.

1259168 2012-03-16 22:24:00 Like JJJJJ i have a similar problem - looks as though we're using the same system so hopefully we might both learn something about this. My problem is different in the fact that I receive all emails with embedded photos or attachments without difficulty.
My problem is being unable to forward one with an embedded photo in them to others - I get a message saying that one or more photos could not be included and are sent showing as an empty box with a red cross in one corner. Any ideas on how to overcome this?

1259169 2012-03-17 01:32:00 Are you both with xtra? Because xtra don't like working with attachments very well.

LL Could you amplify that a bit please LL?

It sounds very similar to my current email problem on Xtra where emails with attachments show up in Mailwasher but fail to download, though they disappear from Xtra's server as if they have. This is a newish and slightly random problem that I've been having for a couple of weeks now. I think I might still be getting the occasional attachment coming through, though I wouldn't bet the farm on it. Is there a solution or work-around? Up until a few weeks ago my Xtra email was 100% reliable. It also seems to affect my incoming business mail from my Orcon account but I don't know if that ends up channeling through Xtra as as well. I only pay about $5 a month for hosting my domain name and nothing else so I'm assuming that my Domain Name email might come via Xtra though Mailwasher appears to access it on Orcon.

Cheers

1259173 2012-03-17 03:07:00 See if this helps, top left File/Option/Safety options - Security Tab, untick " do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that ------" and below that, in Downloaded Images, untick " block images and other content in HTML format" (make sure the one below that is ticked) -- Click OK wainuitech (129)
1259174 2012-03-17 03:31:00 Tried that earlier wainuitech, no difference. Interesting to know that Orcon subscribers are having a problem as well. I've run all the anti virus, spyware and malware checks I've got but they've all come back as no problems detected. Like Billy T, I never had this problem until a few weeks ago tophook (10328)

This has been a problem for some time and is associated with the latest version of WLM 2011
It did not happen with WLM 2009
