1259200 2012-02-14 22:51:00 Apart from all those nortons , mcafee and avg , anyone has any review for internet based software like which are not usually sold in shops , like avast , avira , webroot etc . if not then whats your antivrus pick . Nhashon (16466)
1259201 2012-02-14 22:55:00 I use MSE. Snorkbox (15764)
1259202 2012-02-14 23:41:00 For free use Microsoft Security Essentials (MSSE) as mentioned above.

Leaves most of all the others, free or paid for, for dead.

1259203 2012-02-14 23:47:00 I use Avast free version. Bobh (5192)
1259204 2012-02-14 23:52:00 MSSE for free ... NOD32 for paid. Sorry bobh ... think Avast has gone backwards a little of late.

Nortons, McAfee ... and most of the others ... only good for advertising space on V8 Supercars ... wouldn't catch a virus in 6th gear full throttle down the back straight ... :D

It sure has -- just got back from a customers place, their PC was obviously infected with something - it had the latest Avast, I ripped it out, put in a trial of Nod32 and even while it was installing started detecting active infections.

1259206 2012-02-15 00:46:00 What's Kaspersky like? Bryan (147)
1259207 2012-02-15 01:03:00 Its good  ( I'm being sarcastic BTW about good) --- over the last few weeks I have had to remove it twice from computers --- both times it stuffed up the connection and nothing would get on the internet, so nothing could get infected. wainuitech (129)

Maybe it is time that I went back to MSSE.

1259209 2012-02-15 01:49:00 Wainuitech has done his own testing - search here if you want some results = 1)Nod32 for a pay AV 2)MS Security Essentials for a fee AV.

And remember AV is not enough, you need antispyware as well.

Spybot
Malware Bytes
Superantispyware
Hiajckthis - which is useful but won't tell you what is bad and what isn't, but a good tool to have in the kit
