| 1259005 | 2012-02-13 19:07:00 | I'm looking into buying a laptop (2nd hand). At the moment I have found 2 laptops which I am interest in. They are the same price but the only difference is that one has a ATI Mobility 4650 and the other a 4530. The only thing is that the one with the 4650 has windows vista and the other has windows 7. So what I'm asking is the performance gained by the 4650 over the 4530 (like in game performance, cpu's are identical iirc) going to balance out vista? or will vista completely trash any extra performance the 4650 has? Thanks. | icow (15313) | ||

And Vista if up to date isn't as bad as it's reputation would have you believe, pretty much all the performance issues have been fixed although it does still use a little more resources than 7 does I believe. It's not like Me which continued to be a dog it's whole existence, Vista had issues when released which gave it a bad reputation. The issues were mostly addressed but the reputation persists. UAC is still an annoying pain in the arse in vista, but it can be disabled. On the whole it has most of 7's features, a similar look and feel, and is pretty stable. The biggest complaint these days is that it's a little resource heavy but most modern machines can handle that without a noticeable effect. |
