1258766 2012-02-12 05:39:00 Hi all

I'm in Singapore and considering a move back overseas again, maybe back to NZ or Oz. Not sure yet if this would be a permanent or short term move.

I was wondering if it's worthwhile bringing my PC with me; bringing selected components/peripherals only; or nothing at all (and selling/disposing of it here). Interested in your opinions please.

Also interested in hearing from people who have moved their PC's overseas with them, is the cost of moving it reasonable or prohibitive? Is it likely to get damaged?
If you did move it as part of other household items, did you just move it as-is including it's case?

It's about 2 years old, but I am happy with it and I can see it still lasting me another 2-3 year still. I'm only an occasional gamer.

Specs are:
CPU: Intel i7 860 2.80Ghz Quad Core
MB: Asus P7P55D Pro
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4890
Monitor: Phillips 230C
HD1: WD 1TD (main) 'WD Black, I think
HD2: WD 1.5TB (data) 'WD Green' I think
RAM: 6GB, Kingston I think
PSU: Corsair 750W
Also have some Logitech 5.1 speakers
Also have Canon MP638 multipurpose printer

Thanks!

1258768 2012-02-12 07:49:00 At least if you take it with you, you will not have to go through the hassle of reloading programmes and data. Bobh (5192)
1258769 2012-02-12 07:57:00 Leave the monitor, it's cheaper to buy a new one than ship (and it's probably the most fragile bit). fred_fish (15241)

1258771 2012-02-12 21:44:00 Failing all else, just grab a backup of all your data and bring a harddrive. I imagine you could bring the box and leave the rest though. Just pack it really really well. 8ftmetalhaed (14526)
1258772 2012-02-12 22:03:00 Bring them back since you're still happy with it. You may like to hand carry the monitor as it is fragile. bk T (215)
1258773 2012-02-12 23:36:00 Bring them back since you're still happy with it. You may like to hand carry the monitor as it is fragile. How do you expect to do that as a carry on luggage  Nomad (952)
1258774 2012-02-13 01:04:00 I think we've had this subject come up before. It was suggested to sell the case and PSU and the rest could be broken down and shipped more easily or even made to fit into your luggage. With current prices I would definately keep the hard drives at least. dugimodo (138)
