Then reboot Or if you have a WORKING computer unzip the file on that, then copy it then do the above. I dont think the run option in FF or IE will work. It'll still use the service / file thats screwed to run a file |

2012-02-19 20:42:00 | For team Viewer --- If you use IE, then go to the Quick support in the download page, click the file, select RUN - it will download it to a temp folder, then open and run the program. (Thats what its meant to do) If the QS is not working Via a download as previously mentioned, to be honest I'd be a little surprised if it will work Via the Run from browser as well. Worth a try though. As mentioned before theres no need to actually install Team Viewer - thats what the QS is for.

2012-02-20 18:36:00 | Thats not my experience. To actually get it onto my computer I had to download it and I could then only "install" it. So how do I use QS without installing it ? I'll have another look online, but I don't think I missed anything. At least Teamviewer QS portable is now on the computer. Just have to figure out how to open it . If I changed from my present Vista system to Win 7, would that fix the problem. Or is the faulty component built into the motherboard?

2012-02-20 19:07:00 | I've used team viewer for years, and I can tell you now, the person who is receiving help does not have to install team Viewer. The only one that does is the person who is GIVING the help. The stand alone Quick support is designed to run without installing, its the "receiver" so to speak. Its even says so on their site, directly above the download link. For the instant customer: TeamViewer QuickSupport: Simple and small customer module, runs immediately without installation and does not require administrative rights - optimized for instant support To open it you simply double click the file, it should run, if it doesn't then theres something on the computer stopping it.it still needs a working internet connection of course.

2012-02-20 20:10:00 | Ok I understand. As speedy was going to be the sender, so to speak, I as the receiver did not have to do much as all, but need to clarify. I have Teamviewerqs portable on the computer though not installed. why can't Speedy just look at my computer, as the sender he obviously has Teamviewer installed. It sounds like there must be something that I have to do, except just have Teamviewer sitting on my computer, though not installed. Would changing operating systems solve fix anything ?

2012-02-20 20:14:00 | You need to run Teamviewer to send an ID and password to Speedy. He can't get in unless you do that!!!

2012-02-20 20:14:00 | To use Teamviewer, it needs to be installed / or running. Because, I need the ID and password (from you that Teamviewer gives you). So, I can log in. As Snork said, if I dont have an ID or pw, I can't do anything. | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2012-02-20 20:25:00 | Speedy has the complete version on his computer, thats all the install thats needed. The person receiving help, can run the Quick Support version, when it runs, it links to the team viewer servers as a secure encrypted connection, and generates a user ID and password. This happens even if the installed version is on both computers. It may take a few seconds to make this connection, then once its connected the person wanting help gives the user ID and password thats shown to the person with the complete version. The HELPER, enters in the codes as provided, it then links Via teamviewers Servers to the Quick Support that the person has. Then the link is made, and the helper can see the desktop as if sitting in front of it, and the person wanting help can see exactly whats being done. Example: I 'm going to be connecting to a person in Auckland later today, she will call me give me the user ID and password over the phone, then I can jump onto her computer, do what I have to and disconnect. Its going to take me less than a minute to do what I have to, yet trying to talk her through each step over the phone would possibly take a long time. As for here -- you run the program, PM speedy with the codes, and then he connects to your computer. The problem may be, I doubt speedy will be siting there all day waiting for a PM ;) This is where a time being arranged is a good idea.

2012-02-20 20:57:00 | This might be a duplicate post as I am using IE9 for the first time. OK, I have teamviewerqs portable sitting on the damaged laptop, what do I have to do to get Teamviewer to give me a password and ID
