2012-02-17 02:12:00 | Hi Wainuitech. Did that and watched the download while it firstly did a virus check and then downloaded the file. I was watching it all occuring in my download folder. The download completed OK. I then shut the download folder down. A minute or so later I opened the download folder and the file was not there. This happens often and not just with the issue Speedy is helping me with. I have just tried to download some trojan detecting/ getting rid of programs, but the same happens, it DLs and then disapears. I'm going to DL another trojan program, but this time I will write down the full details of the DL, so I can then, (when it disapears as well), search the computer for it and maybe find all the others I have downloaded ! Something really strange is going on, as Speedy asked if my updates were up to date. So I checked, as I have it set to Automatic in Control Panel - it showed a page, but it was blank, except, at the top "Windows Update". So for the present, I have no idea if my updates are truly up to date. Oh I tried this several times, always with the same result. I am starting to think I'm getting to the end of the road as far as fixing it goes. Still, it still goes well as far as the internet is concerned, and Mail and all other already installed programs. I'm going to try to fix Windows Installer, which is also playing up (selectivly ?) I did a Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool test and it passed, so probably is not a memory problem. Appreciate the help Speedy and Wainuitech.

2012-02-17 02:38:00 | What antivirus do you have installed?? Its not uncommon if the antivirus is damaged it will do exactly whats happening- it could be deleting the files. "If" the AV is damaged, it could also be part of the reason, as you put it -- "why it is not going very well". AVG :yuck: is known to do this. Just a suggestion - uninstall the AV.

Reading my post reply to Wainuitech will show that Teamviewer (and many other programs) can not be found in my downloads folder after what looks like a sucessfull download of Teamviewer. This may be due to an error message that "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed." |

2012-02-18 08:17:00 | This is going to be a bit hit and miss till speedy can get on with teamViewer. ( maybe) :p Try this -- go to support.microsoft.com run the test /fixit from the site, the first example under the symptoms section sounds like the one you are getting. As I mentioned before, there's no need to actually install Team Viewer, the quick support will work just as well and doesn't need to be installed. As also mentioned before, try to remove avast, (just to see if its the AV dumping the files) if it wont uninstall, then download Portable-Revo-Uninstaller (www.softpedia.com) ( save it to a USB drive directly not the PC since it may disappear from there). Run it from the USB drive, select advanced mode select Avast and rip it out completely, (don't reboot if Avast asks to) the advanced mode will remove files and reg keys the normal uninstaller wont. "if" no one can get on Via Team Viewer (aka Speedy) then you may have to take the computer to a shop or have a service tech look at it, unless someone else can come up with any solutions.

2012-02-18 09:12:00 | Use the Avast uninstall tool (www.avast.com). This will remove all of the files Avast installed. You click on run now to download the fixit on that site. If its doesn't run you have to install Powershell. If you use XP | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |

2012-02-18 23:58:00 | Speedy/Wainuitech, is there nothing within windows that would work between Speedy and myself ? It would have to be something that did not require installing, as that obviously, is a major fault here. Spent the whole morning looking for something that might fix the installation problem, some looked good, but when I tried to run them, they required to be saved first, then installed - well that dont work.
