1259219 2012-02-15 06:20:00 Our usage seems to have grown over the last few months. Is there any way to find out how much is being used by, say, youtube? wotz (335)

1259221 2012-02-15 07:20:00 You can monitor the traffic with Networx (www.softperfect.com), and workout the times its used, and the figure out from there. For example if someones on youtube for an hour between 6-7pm, the logs will tell you exactly how much has been used. (or parts of that hour).

It works in real time, so you can actually see how much data is being used. Download links are on the left near the bottom of that page.

Edited: While you cant see it in this Pic because its static, I'm playing a song on Youtube, it started off at 165MB (for today) , and after playing for less than 2 minutes look at the difference.(Circled in Yellow)

1259222 2012-02-15 07:40:00 Darkstat tracks usage by IP (for both source & destination) so you can easily identify the sites your bandwidth is being soaked up with.

The only catch is that you need a linux router to run it on, either a dedicated box or in a VM.
Freesco is great for this (either way) as it only needs a 1.44MB floppy image & 16MB RAM.
It can also be your web/mail/file/dns/dhcp server among other things :)
